WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

This position will report into the Precision Technology Group – Precision & Vehicles Electronics Core Hardware/Software organization.

This is a technical position responsible for design, validation, and application of sensor-based components to be used within new and current vehicle product lines. He\she will be responsible to specify, design, develop and validate sensor components and their applications within agriculture and construction vehicles.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

•   Design, release, and application of sensors used within vehicle electronics systems. Responsible to specify all expected component performances and reliability expectations. In particular: 

   •   Sensor technologies covering wide variety of sensing applications and medias,

   •   Specific sensor technologies of emphasis include: Receiving, transmitting technology (imaging, acoustic, wireless, high speed, other),

   •   Applications of emphasis: Combine Automation, Active Noise Control, Agricultural advanced sensing, monitoring, distribution and flow control, Weight Load Systems, Roll over Air Bag protection, Central / Adaptive Tire Inflation, Guidance,

   •   Specific and demonstrated experience on: 

      • Temperature sensing, (Thermistors, thermocouples, RTD’s), 

      • Pressure sensing (Fiber optic, vacuum, LVDT, electronic, pressure), 

      • Flow sensing (Electromagnetic, differential pressure, positional displacement, thermal mass), Level Sensors (Differential pressure, ultrasonic radio frequency, radar, thermal displacement), 

      • Proximity and displacement (LVDT, photoelectric, capacitive, magnetic, ultrasonic), 

      • Image sensing (Charge coupled devices, CMOS), 

      • Gas and chemical sensing (Semiconductor, Infrared, Conductance, Electrochemical), 

      • Acceleration sensing (Gyroscopes, Accelerometers), Other type sensing (Moisture, humidity, speed, mass, tilt, force, viscosity, and others),

•   Responsible for evaluations, assessments, and recommendations for robustness levels on sensor components within company specified standards

   •   Responsible for technical liaison with sensor suppliers.

   •   Responsible for recommendation and implementation of component test equipment, oversight of corrective actions and ownership in determining cause of failures and/or travel to supplier sites as needed to facilitate communication between engineering and suppliers

    •   Responsible for interfacing regularly with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of components and compliance to company requirements, specifications, standards, and 2D/3D engineering documentation.

    •   Review sensor supplier design including schematic, worst case circuit analysis, DFMEA, test reports. 

    •   Review and approve sensor supplier validation test plans and reports, and failure analysis reports of components in development. 

•   Provides recommendations to Applications and Systems engineers for proper utilization of sensors under responsibility.

•   Responsible for engineering drawings and releasing parts production procurement for global operations

•   Responsible for Interfacing with Electronics Integrations team for 3D definition of component installation.

•   Release drawings for all components following CNHI processes 

•   Interfaces with systems engineering for integration of existing and\or new\current sensors in vehicle electrical and electronics systems

•   Support definition of test and validation requirements for sensors once integrated, as well as, maturity and release of new component families

•   Analyze and evaluate new technological solutions regarding sensor technologies reaching industry

•   Support vehicle level signoff of component installation at various project milestones

•   Reviews progress of projects and provides frequent team progress updates to direct manager

•   Accountable to deliver work products to ensure efficient and timely completion of specific project milestones

•   Ensures use of engineering standards, methodologies, and global product development processes into engineering team’s daily work.

•   Investigate problems using disciplined problem-solving methodologies and lead/review supplier problem solving documentation on component and system issues.

•   Embrace Innovation mindset to promote and encourage new technology and be creative

•   Travel estimate 10%

YOUR KEY COMPETENCES AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Qualifications:

•   Bachelors (or higher) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or similar.

•   A minimum of 5 years’ experience within sensor technologies and their applications

•   In-depth knowledge of sensor technologies within above responsibilities 

•   In-depth knowledge of principles and practices of sensor validation for Automotive, commercial vehicle, off-highway, agricultural, construction, aerospace or medical equipment including Electrical, EMC, and environmental qualifications.

•   Knowledge of Vehicle Communication Protocol (CAN, LIN) and functional requirements

•   Experience covering various system voltage ranges. 

•   Possess strong communication skills and ability to engage and correspond with global network of teams, colleagues and interfaces in which English may be a second language.

•   Capable of reading and understanding System Block Diagrams, Embedded System Hardware Schematics, and Electrical System Schematics

•   Ability to manage more than one project simultaneously

•   Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities

•   Able to work under minimal supervision, with ability to recognize issues to be escalated

•   Shows good technical leadership and organization/control skills 

•   Ability to work with tight deadline and under pressure

•   Leadership and communication skills.

•   Fluent English.

Preferred Qualifications: 

•   OEM experience or Tier 1 product development experience.

•   5 years’ experience dealing with sensor development, application and maintenance of sensor lines.

•   Experience with Creo (or other MCAD SW like Unigraphics or Catia) and or Capital (or other ECAD SW)

•   Experience with Automotive Environmental Validation requirements and test procedures for electrical and electronic components

•   Experience with Teamcenter or other Product Lifecycle management tools and Digital Mockup Environments

•   Experience with methodologies, drafting standards and industry practice in the documentation of sensor components

•   Able to work on 2D/3D CAD packages

•   Experience working in multi-location teams

•   Agricultural or Construction Equipment background or relevant experience in off road machinery engineering.
