WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

This position reports to the Chief Engineering of the product line and leads the architectural layout of the full vehicle for both New Programs and Current Product Maintenance. S/He’s an important stakeholder in the definition and acceptance of the concepts studies and owns the packaging and assemble ability by means of packaging checks and leveraging the support of Advance Manufacturing Engineering.

Vehicle Architect is the owner of the Virtual Master Models and creates/maintains it regularly with continues exchanges with Engineering Services and Technical Competency Centers (TCC); S/He is also used to read Product Offerings (Commercial Offering, Engineering Variants, Constraints, Tyre table…) and manage the upper structure BOM accordingly in order to make/keep it clean and lean.

Vehicle Architect is the lead of the DIA kits, drives the TCC in the release phase and cares about applicability to different tractors in agreement with Engineering and Product Specialists.

S/He is the responsible for homologation conformity for what concern the full vehicle (with support of Homologation Department), makes sure that the vehicle is compliant to the mandatory global and local legal requirement and drives the production and collection of homologation drawings (by means of TCC or outsourcing)

Vehicle Architect is an expert of the 3D tools, PLMs and manufacturing processes in order to ensure design solutions are compatible with production tooling and methodologies.

S/He suggests the best technical solutions for problems in accordance with technical and manufacturing constraints and helps the team to identify the solution for best tradeoff between, cost, quality, time and reliability.

S/He also Co-ordinates Outsourcing Engineers, mainly for packaging activities, and involves different competencies and departments when appropriate.

Vehicle Architect has an overall knowledge of the vehicle (Tractor) and drives (in agreement with Chief Engineer and/or Project Leader) a cross-functional technical Product Engineering team spread in different sites, and follows the product improvements from concept phase till industrialization

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Vehicle Architecture:

  • Creation and Maintenance of Vehicles Master Models
  • Monitor and correction of the Master Model by Variants
  • Concept Study creation and approval (in first person or leveraging TCCs)
  • Preliminary Digital Mock-Up (DMU) check to support release, supported by packagers
  • ECO DMU check to support release, supported by packagers
  • Virtual Order validation for pre-builds and 4P, supported by packagers
  • Drive and Support for TCC during Mechanical design and packaging of components to meet product and system level requirements while optimizing for product attributes.
  • Lead of product integration reviews, mediation in trade-off situations in order to ensure design solutions are in line with product attribute targets.

Product Offering and Upper BOM

  • Support the product specialist's requests for the creation of the new PO or revision of the current one.
  • Translation of the Product Offering (PO) requirements and constrains into Engineering Variants offering
  • Follow up with engineering service on the creation of the Upper Structure BOM
  • Top-level product CAD/GROUP and BOM management
  • Verification of Variant Families for sanity check and improvement

Support to Chief Engineer (CE) / Project Leader (PL)

           Managing of DMU during Concept and Acceptance Design Review

          First technical line in support of CE/PL for Platform request

Homologation

  • Legislation compliance check during the design phase (lights, Steps, Tracks…)
  • Creation and collection of homologation drawings

DIA Kits

  • Definition of the DIA Kit offerings in agreement with Product Specialist
  • Lead of DIA Kit release
  • Circulation of the DIA Kit instruction for validation

Outsourcing/internal management

  • Raise request for external support and drive the outsource activities
  • Coordinates internal activities related to Vehicle Architecture and Homologation.

Others

  • Incorporates engineering standards, methodologies and global product development processes into daily work tasks
  • Contributes to the decrease overall product warranty profile and warranty costs
  • Contributes to the overall profitability of existing products
  • Contributes to the complexity reduction for manufacturing

YOUR KEY COMPETENCES AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Mechanical Engineering degree with emphasis in automotive
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in vehicle/mechanical design environment
  • Task Management skills together with management and motivation of resources assigned
  • Advanced knowledge of English (written and spoken),
  • Technical skills: basics of Tractor systems, technical drawings, mechanical, manufacturing technologies, electrical and hydraulic systems
  • CAD 3D user (TeamCenter, VisMockup and Creo preferred)
  • Understanding of 2D drawings
  • Familiar with DFMEA
  • Microsoft packages: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook
  • Prior experience in design of agricultural equipment is preferred

OTHER INFORMATION:

  • Eligibility to work in the main European engineering sites
  • Full clean Driving Licence
  • Ability to travel around the territory and availability to occasional travels with some over-night stays
  • Languages: fluent in English and Italian preferred
  • Ability to negotiate within engineering the technical solution, facilitatation of idea generation and selection. Capability to share positive/negative feedbacks about technical outcome
  • Frequent verbal and written communication with co-workers, exchanging information and supporting them to achieve goals
  • An independent thinking is required. Able to work under minimal supervision and to manage multiple projects
